What You Need to Know About Cleaning Your MMA Facility

Less than two weeks until the official start of Spring! But don’t wait until the spring cleaning season to start keeping your equipment clean. This is something that all facility owners and managers should be on top of at all times.

Properly cleaning your training equipment will not only protect you and your students from illness, it can extend the life of your MMA mats and will make your facility a place where people want to train. When it comes to running a business, image, particularly first impressions, is a huge component to growing and maintaining sales.

Make sure your facility is a clean, healthy and safe place to train by following these tips.

How Often To Clean Your Mats and Equipment

Cleaning frequency is just as important as technique. You should always keep spray bottles filled with disinfectant dispersed throughout your gym at all times. Encourage students and trainers to spray and wipe down bags, mats and anything else them come in contact with while training. This should be done after each use.

Additionally, you should do a full cleaning of your facility at least once a day, depending on your training frequency. It you see a lot of foot traffic through your facility each day, make it a point to conduct afternoon and end-of-day-cleanings. For these types of deep cleans, you should use a gym scrubber, vacuum and mop to ensure the deepest, most effective clean. If you need to get back on the mats quickly, you can use air movers to help them dry quickly.

What Solutions to Use

You want to find a good cleaning solution that is both an effective disinfectant and safe to use. Our neutral disinfectant cleaner is easy to use and can be mixed with water when cleaning. It has a tolerance to hard water and is effective against:

  • Antibiotic-resistant bacteria strains
  • Fungus, viruses and mold
  • HIV-1 (AIDS Virus) and Hepatitis-B & C Viruses

We also provide a mineral deposit cleaner that can be used in conjunction with our disinfectant. This helps break up and wash away common mineral deposits that are left behind on mats from sweat and constant cleanings.

We recommend using the disinfectant twice a day and the mineral deposit cleaner at the end of each day.
