The Top 10 Jiu-Jitsu Instagram Accounts, As We See It.

By: Nick Bez

Let’s be upfront about this: everything that follows is opinion, as there is no currently held international standard for ranking or otherwise rating Instagram accounts — we seriously just clarified that, insert eye-roll.

From there, let’s get started on a tour of our Top 10 Undisputed, Don’t Run from the Truth, “do you even roll, bro?” Jiu-Jitsu Instagram Accounts.

(And no, they’re not in any particular order — we’re not giving you any more ammo for the comments section than we absolutely need to!).

Eddie Bravo // @eddiebravo10p

There’s a little something for everyone when it comes to @eddiebravo10p’s Instagram. From cutting edge jiu-jitsu techniques to pics from his classes and the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu community, Eddie’s Instagram includes an ode to #Rubberguard (like he’s full on playing the keyboard and singing, possibly in his boxers), a breakdown of his iTunes listening habits, and so much more!

Nick Albin aka Chewy // @chewjitsu

Speaking of technique, @chewjitsu is home to Nick Albin aka Chewy and his consistent stream of jiu-jitsu and fitness training tips. They’re straightforward, accessible and, in many cases, Chewy has extended cuts on his YouTube channel!

FloGrappling // @flograppling

Kinda the “YouTube” of the grappling game. If you like to watch people roll, then @flograppling’s feed is going to be your jam. Well over half of their posts are video content of grapplers doing what they do, it’s that simple.

Marcus Almeida // @marcusbuchecha

His Instagram game isn’t nearly as strong as his grappling game, but @marcusbuchecha, a self-proclaimed “simple guy who dreamed to do Jiu Jitsu for the rest of his life,” is arguably one of the greats, if not the greatest, and that’s worth keeping an eye on.

Roger Gracie // @rogergracie

If you’re talking about the greats of jiu-jitsu, then you’re morally obligated to mention a Gracie or two, and so far as Insta-game goes, @rogergracie is on point! There’s humor, history, a splash of Brazilian Portuguese and a few hits of inspiration and information.

Jean Jacques Machado // @jeanjacquesmachado

How do you say “Coral Belt” in Brazilian Portuguese? It’s safe to assume that @jeanjacquesmachado knows considering he earned his Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. and his Coral Belt under Rickson Gracie. Machado’s posts are consistently inspirational, informational, or community-focused, so there’s really no way to go wrong here.

YogaForBJJ // @yogaforbjj

Fun fact: Rickson Gracie was a yogi. Perhaps you remember that in the documentary “Choke,” where Rickson discussed the benefits of yogic breathing techniques as well as the value of yoga for fluidity and range of motion? Well, regardless of whether or not you caught the movie, @yogaforbjj will catch you up and then some. They are a great resource for real talk on the benefits and application of yoga for general jiu-jitsu greatness and injury rehab.

Catherine Fuhro Perret // @catherinefp

And from that fun fact we dive into the fact that @catherinefp is straight-up fun! From her Insta-game to her travels as a Checkmat Athlete, we pretty sure we’ve smiled each and every time we’ve ever been around Catherine. Check her feed out and you’ll instantly get it!

Spots #9 and #10 are split, or perhaps shared – not sure what you want to call it other than to say that Jon and Chris of @jiujitsuafterdark, and JiuJitsu Memes, Bro. aka @brojitsu are evenly tied for bringing the funny ha-ha to BJJ so far as Instagram is concerned. If you don’t already have a report app, you’ll get one just to use it on their stuff!

And there you have it, the Top 10 Jiu-Jitsu Instagram Accounts, as we see it.
